2CupsWatermelonFresh- cut into chunks and seeds removed
Instructions
Make the Ice Cream Mixture
Pour the watermelon into a small blender and blend together until combined. Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. If you prefer your sorbet a little sweeter, add 1 tablespoon of sugar.
Freeze IMMEDIATELY on a level surface for 24 hours. If you don’t freeze immediately, the watermelon will separate in the container. Your freezer should be between 9 and -7 degrees Fahrenheit. To avoid getting a bump on the top of the frozen mixture, freeze with the lid off of the container.
Process the Ice Cream
After 24 hours, remove the pint container from the freezer.
Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami and then process on "SORBET."
If the sorbet is dry or crumbly looking (like sand), pour in a tablespoon or two of milk or water and then re-spin. You may have to repeat this process a couple of times.
Remove the pint from the machine and enjoy!
Notes
Why do you need to blend the watermelon?
Be sure to blend the watermelon before adding it to the Ninja Creami pint. You want to make sure that the mixture is consistent throughout and there are no gaps between the chunks of watermelon. If there are gaps, the Ninja Creami will have a difficult time processing it and it could damage the machine. Blending helps make the mixture consistent with no gaps.
What do you do about the watermelon seeds?
Buy seedless watermelon! While you can eat the seeds, most prefer not to. If there are seeds, the blender does not do a very good job of fully breaking them down and you will end up with small pieces of seeds in the finished product.
How do you prevent the mixture from separating?
Freeze immediately after adding the mixture to the Ninja Creami pint. Since watermelon is made up of mostly water, it separates in the container very quickly. You DO NOT want there to be a layer of water and a layer of watermelon pulp. You want a combined mixture so that the machine is not processing ice.
