Growing up I never really liked the idea of sweet potatoes. The whole reason I like potatoes is because they are salty- or at least they are once you add salt, cheese, bacon and all other delicious things. To this day, my parents still make sweet potatoes on a weekly basis. And up until just recently, I had never really tried a sweet potato….I just knew I couldn’t possibly like it.
Well, the time finally came….I jumped off the deep end and made sweet potatoes in the Ninja Foodi. Honestly, it wasn’t my idea. A girlfriend of mine was making sweet potatoes so I figured what the heck, I’ll give it a try. OMG! It was so good. Ok, maybe it was because I poured leftover marshmallow sauce all over the top and added extra brown sugar and butter….but who cares! At the end of the day, I tried sweet potatoes and LOVED them!
There are so many different ways to make sweet potatoes. You can stay a little healthier and add fresh vegetables as a a topping or you can go all in and go crazy like I did!
Tips for making this recipe:
1.Be creative with the toppings. There are so many different ways to eat sweet potatoes. Sweet or savory…you can’t go wrong!
2.Try the marshmallow sauce. Even if you don’t try it on your sweet potato….try it! Your life just won’t be the same. Seriously…it’s that good!!
Instructions:
- Wash your sweet potatoes really well. The outside of a sweet potato is thicker than a normal potato and can sometimes have a little bit of additional dirt on the skin.
- Pour 1 cup of water into the Ninja Foodi pot.
- Place steamer basket into Ninja Foodi.
- Place sweet potatoes into the steamer basket.
- Close pressure cooker lid on Ninja Foodi and pressure cook on high for 15 minutes. Be sure that valve is set to “seal” position.
- When timer beeps, allow pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes.
- Quick release remaining pressure by moving valve to “release” position.
- Open Ninja Foodi and top sweet potatoes with your favorite toppings.
- Enjoy!

Sadly mine came out too hard. I only put two in. Maybe they were too big ?
Lauren Cardona
Oh no! If they are still hard, they might be bigger and need more time to cook.

Worked perfectly!! Thank you ๐
Britt
I tried this and it was just as hard as when I first put it in and I followed directions to a t. Very disappointed ๐!!!

Hi Britt- I’m sorry to hear that your sweet potatoes did not cook as expected. Was the vent closed and was the machine building pressure? I’ve made sweet potatoes several times with no issue. How big were they? It’s possible that you used bigger potatoes which needed more time (although the ones I buy are usually pretty big too). I would recommend a few extra minutes to the pressure cook time next time you make them.
