Who has kids? If you do I’m sure you’re familiar with this conversation: Mom- “What do you want for dinner tonight?” Kids- “PIZZA!!” Ugh there’s only so many nights a week that we want to order pizza. And quite frankly, I’ve gotten a little tired of eating plain cheese pizza from our local delivery place.
Well- we found a solution! We now make our own pizza in the Ninja Foodi! Not only can you pick and choose what ingredients everyone wants, without breaking the bank on buying multiple pizzas to get the toppings everyone wants….just to end up with a ton of leftovers (that we never eat!) but you can involve the entire family in the fun of creating their own pizzas!
I have shared several times that I ALWAYS try to get my 12 year old daughter involved in cooking with me but she is resistant. She does not share the same passion for cooking as I do. ๐
When she suggested we make pizzas…and said she would help, I was beyond thrilled! When we went to the grocery store, she picked out the crust that she wanted (I suggested make our own but she wanted to buy pre-made), she picked out the sauce and the cheese.
When we got home, she was incredibly eager to get started cooking….it was like 10am so I asked her to wait just a little longer so that we could have our Create Your Own Pizzas for lunch. When we started to make the pizzas, she was so excited and actually wanted to help take pictures of her creations! What?? This can’t be the same kid. But it was. ๐
Making Create Your Own Pizzas in the Ninja Foodi proved to be a great way to bring the family together for a fun day of cooking! This was a huge win for me! I hope your family enjoys the pizza and the time spent together as much as we did.
Tips for this recipe:
- Get your family involved! Let them pick out all of their toppings and participate in the creating and cooking!
- Look in your refrigerator and see what you have that you can throw on your pizza. This recipe is a great one to use up your leftovers on. Just about anything can go on pizza. Just think- you could put leftover mac n cheese or sliced deli meat on your pizza. Use the cheeses and vegetables that you already have in the fridge.
How to make Create Your Own Pizza in the Ninja Foodi:
Cooking 1 pizza at a time:
- Begin by making your pizza to your liking.
- We started with our preferred crust and then topped with all of our favorite toppings.
- Fresh garlic, pizza sauce, cheese and toppings.
- Place your pizza on a cooking rack. For one pizza you can use a small pizza pan, the crisping basket or the cooking rack that came with your Ninja Foodi.
- Turn Ninja Foodi “on” and select “bake” and change temperature to 400 degrees. Bake for 10 minutes.
- When timer beeps, change function to “broil” and broil on high for 2 minutes. This will finish off the top pizza.
- Open lid and remove top pizza.
- Enjoy!
Cooking 2 pizzas at the same time:
- Begin by making your pizza to your liking
- We started with our preferred crust and then topped with all of our favorite toppings.
- Fresh garlic, pizza sauce, cheese and toppings.
- Place your pizzas onto the cooking racks.
-
- I used the dehydrator rack because it has 2 layers. You can also use the crisping basket along with a canning rack to layer your pizzas.
-
- Place dehydrator rack or crisping basket into the Ninja Foodi and close the “crisping lid”
Close the “crisping lid” and choose “broil” function. Broil on high for 2 minutes. This will finish off the bottom pizza.
- Open lid and remove pizza.
- Enjoy!

What attachment have you used to bake pizza? I just brought a new Ninja Foodi and wanted to explore more recipes. TIA

Hi there! I used the dehydrator rack that you can buy as an accessory for your Ninja Foodi. It’s a little tricky to stack multiple pizzas with it, but it works. If you are just making one pizza, you can use the small rack that came with your Ninja Foodi or a silicone trivet. The goal is just to get the pizza raised off of the bottom of the pot so that the bottom crisps up. I hope that helps. Good luck!

I used real mozzarella cheese balls to keep my pizzas from burning on the top and our pizzas were delicious. I tried twice with shredded mozzarella cheese from a bag and each time it burned the cheese topping.

Using fresh mozzarella is a great idea! I have made these pizzas several times and have not had any problems with the cheese burning before. I’m sorry that happened to yours. I’d recommend checking on your pizzas a couple of minutes sooner than the recipe recommends and pull them out just before they start to over-brown the cheese.

I was hoping for a pizza with a homemade crust. The crust wasn’t homemade. Ugh ๐

Oh no! What type of pizza crust did you use for the recipe?
