My mom use to make a dish similar to Instant Pot Beef Tips and Gravy and I loved it! She would use ยฝ inch thick round steak instead of the beef tips and I don’t think she added the mushrooms. There was something about it that I loved and had a craving for it one day so I made my variation of it.
I have been making this dish for years now and it has changed several times. I use to make it in the crock pot and just recently started making my take on Beef Tips and Gravy in the Instant Pot. It’s so much quicker to make in the Instant Pot and the meat comes out much more tender than on the stove or in the crock pot.
This meal has become a staple in our house- we eat it several times a month and my daughter Kaleigh requests it. She can’t get enough! Instant Pot Beef Tips and Gravy is a comfort food. It warms you up and keeps you feeling full. Give it a try! I think you’ll have found a new family favorite!
Tips for this recipe:
- Natural release the pressure. EVERY recipe that I have found online for beef tips says to quick release at the end. This cut of meat will be tough if you quick release.
- Get creative and add in your favorite vegetables. Sometimes I add in green peppers. ๐
- Try Instant Pot Beef Tips and Gravy served over noodles or mashed potatoes! Coming soon- one pot beef tips with noodles recipe. Stay tuned!
- Stir continuously after you add the cornstarch mixture or your dinner will stick to the bottom of the pan.
- You can use dry packaged gravy mix instead of the canned gravy but just be sure that you do not add more than 1 cup of water regardless of what the instructions on the packet say. If you add more water your gravy will be very liquidy!

Why is the salt listed twice?
2 teaspoons x 2 equals way too much salt for me.
Any pepper in this recipe?
Thanks for the recipe.
