It’s just about that time of year! Apple season is quickly approaching. There are so many recipes that I want to make and several of them call for applesauce. So, why not just make my own Ninja Foodi Applesauce and use it in the recipes!
Making homemade applesauce is incredibly easy and it’s great that you can make it just the way that you like it. You can make it just the right texture and sweetness for your family.
I’ve made applesauce on the stove before and it turned out great! But, it’s even easier in the Ninja Foodi. You can literally throw all of the ingredients in the pot and let it cook on its own. No more watching the pot and constantly stirring it. ๐
Tips for this recipe:
1. If you prefer your applesauce a little sweeter, you can add in sugar or brown sugar before pressure cooking. I added in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar to make it just a little sweeter.
2. Choose apples that you like! I used granny smith and honey crisp but you can use any apples that you have on hand or that you buy at the grocery store. The granny smith apples add a bit of tartness to the applesauce.
3. For smoother applesauce, blend once cooked. I really liked the texture before blending. It was not too chunky but had a bit of a bite to it.
4. Don’t waste your time cutting the apples into small pieces. I sliced the apples into pretty big pieces and they cooked down wonderfully. No need to spend extra time cutting the apples smaller.

Came out great even though there was a little scorching on the bottom. Still tastes great. I used 2 pounds, I filled the pot to to the 10 cup line and that was 2 pounds. I will use 1.5 cups of water next time. I have lots of apples from racket ball to softball size. I will be using this sauce for fruit leather so took an emersion blender to it.
If you use your Foodi as much as I do get a stainless steel pot, you don’t have to worry about scratches and easy to clean and you be surprised how handy it is having two pots.

Can you advise roughly how many cups of apples you need for the recipe please?? Iโm using small apples from my neighbors tree & want to be sure the ratio is right for the other ingredients. Thank you!
Lauren Cardona
I’d estimate that I used about 10 cups of cut up apples. It really depends how small you cut the apples and how tightly packed they are in the bowl/measuring cup.
Polgara
hi, can I use half the recipe or is that to little volume? thanks in advance
Lauren Cardona
Hi Polgara- It should still work if you only make half of the recipe.
Kim
Since it is not specified, I am going to assume pressure setting should be HIGH, not LOW. Can you, please, verify?
Thank you
Lauren Cardona
Yes, cook on high pressure. ๐

I made a big mistake last year & didnโt follow exact recipe for the number of apples & water. After PC & NR for 5 minutes then doing the quick release, I had steamed apple juice & apple mush spraying out of the valve & onto counters. It was quite a mess to clean up, so I will definitely be more attentive next time!

Awesome! This worked out so well. Thanks for taking the time to figure out all these recipes using the Foodi. I accidentally blended the apples into a puree instead of a sauce, so next time I will use the masher!

Just have a question for you, how much water do you add to the “pot” before putting the apple mixture in a separate pan to cook?
TheTastyTravelers
Add in one cup of water ๐
