I will be the first person to tell you that I HATE cottage cheese. I cannot stand the texture, the flavor, none of it. So when I tell you that this Ninja Creami Peach Cobbler Cottage Cheese Protein Ice Cream does not taste like cottage cheese, I mean it! I promise!

I will be honest, when I first started seeing people add cottage cheese to ice cream all over social media, I rolled my eyes. I tried it because so many people were saying how creamy it makes the ice cream and how much extra protein it adds. After a lot of testing in the Ninja Creami ice cream maker, I figured out the trick to making it work, and now I am here for it.
The texture on this one is creamy and smooth with a peachy flavor that reminds me of peach cobbler in frozen form. The trick is to BLEND the cottage cheese with the protein shake and peaches before freezing. If you skip the blending step, you could end up with little pockets of cottage cheese throughout your ice cream and that is exactly what you do not want.

For the peaches, I use canned no-sugar-added slices in water and drain them really well before blending. The peaches do double duty here. They add the cobbler flavor to the base AND they add extra liquid as mix-ins that keep the ice cream from getting dry, which is why this one does not need a re-spin like a lot of other Ninja Creami recipes.

The peach cobbler flavor and texture really come together at the end with the mix-ins. A spoonful of protein granola gets mixed-in along with a few extra peach slices, and that crunchy granola is the closest thing to a buttery cobbler crumble in homemade ice cream. It is the little detail that takes this from a peach protein ice cream to peach cobbler.

One thing I cannot stress enough is that you NEED to use no salt added cottage cheese. I learned this the hard way. Regular cottage cheese has so much sodium that you can taste the salt in the finished ice cream, and salty peach ice cream is not what we are going for here. Grab the no salt added kind every time and you will be in good shape.
Tips for making Ninja Creami Peach Cobbler Cottage Cheese Protein Ice Cream
No, you cannot taste it at all, and I am someone who hates cottage cheese. As long as you blend it well with the rest of the base before freezing, the cottage cheese disappears into the ice cream. It just adds protein and creaminess without any of the cottage cheese flavor or texture.
Regular cottage cheese has a lot of sodium in it, and you will taste that salty flavor in your finished ice cream. No salt added cottage cheese gives you all the protein and creamy texture without any salty taste sneaking in. Trust me on this one.
Yes, fresh peaches work really well in this recipe. You do not even need to peel them when adding them to the ice cream base since they get blended up. I do recommend peeling them when you are using them as mix-ins so the texture stays smooth.
The canned peaches add a lot of natural liquid to the ice cream base, so you do not need to add more liquid or re-spin to get a creamy texture. It will look a little crumbly straight out of the machine, don’t panic. Once you mix in the granola and peach pieces, the texture comes together perfectly.
Vanilla protein shake is recommended because it lets the peach flavor shine. A plain or unflavored shake would also work fine. I would skip chocolate or anything that is going to compete with the peach cobbler flavor.

- Vanilla Protein Shake– You can swap the protein shake for the same volume of dairy (whole milk, 2% milk, almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or Fairlife milk) mixed with vanilla protein powder, but you may need to adjust the flavor and sweetness. Higher fat dairy will give you a creamier homemade ice cream.
- Low Fat Cottage Cheese– Make sure to use no salt added cottage cheese or you will taste salt in the finished ice cream. You can use full fat cottage cheese for an even creamier sweet treat, but always blend it into the base.
- No Sugar Added Sliced Peaches– Canned peach slices in water work great here, just drain them well before adding to the base. Fresh peaches also work, no need to peel them since they get blended.
- Protein Granola– Use any protein granola you like as the cobbler crumble mix-in, or swap in regular granola if that is what you have on hand. Keep in mind that regular granola will add more sugar than protein granola.
- Mix-In Peaches– Use the same canned no sugar added peaches as the base, drained well and quartered so the chunks fold in easily. Fresh peaches work too, just peel them and cut into similar sized pieces.
Directions for Making the Ice Cream Mixture

- Pour the protein shake, cottage cheese, and sliced peaches into a small blender and blend together until the cottage cheese is completely combined with the other ingredients. Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container.
- Freeze on a level surface for 24 hours. Your freezer should be between 9 and -7 degrees Fahrenheit. To avoid getting a bump on the top of the frozen mixture, freeze with the lid off of the container.
Directions for Processing the Ice Cream Mixture

- After 24 hours, remove the pint container from the freezer.
- Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami and then process on “LITE ICE CREAM.”
- The ice cream will be a little crumbly, but not dry. I do not re-spin or add more liquid with this recipe because the canned peaches that are mixed in add a lot of liquid to the ice cream.
- Dig a hole down the center of the ice cream and pour the granola and quartered sliced peaches down the center of the ice cream and then process on mix-ins.
- Remove the pint from the machine and enjoy!

- ¼ Cup (59 ⅐ ml) No Sugar Added Sliced Peaches (In water- drain the water- cut into quarters)
Instructions
