    Instant Pot Ravioli Lasagna

    Instant Pot Ravioli Lasagna

    At our house we LOVE ravioli and we LOVE lasagna!  Just ask my 13 year old daughter!  If she could, she would eat either lasagna or ravioli for just about every single meal.  While ravioli is quick and easy to make, lasagna takes more time.  Especially, if you are baking it instead of using your pressure cooker.  

    Ravioli Lasagna

    Recently, she asked me to make her lasagna and I just wasn't in the mood to get out the ingredients and go through the process.  I offered to make her ravioli instead.  And then it happened.....I combined the two recipes together and ended up making ravioli lasagna!!!

    Making Ravioli Lasagna in the Instant Pot ended up being super easy and it tasted really good!  My 13 year old approved!!  That's a huge win in my book!  I hope you enjoy our recipe for Ravioli Lasagna as much as we did! 

    Ravioli Lasagna

    Tips for making Instant Pot Ravioli Lasagna:

    1. Make sure that you use FROZEN ravioli instead of fresh-made or the refrigerated raviolis.  While I do LOVE the refrigerated ravioli, it will not do well in this recipe.  It will way overcook and break up within the lasagna.  The frozen ravioli does a much better job of staying together and not overcooking. 

    2. Change up the type of ravioli that is used.  I used a combination of sausage and ground beef ravioli.  But, you could very easily change it up and use spinach or mushroom ravioli.  Use what you like!  

    3. Once the ravioli lasagna has finished cooking, be sure to let it sit on the counter for at least 10 minutes before removing the springform pan.  If you remove the springform pan right away, all of the cheesy goodness within the ravioli lasagna will cause everything to start to slide.  You don't want that!  If you attempt to remove the springform pan and it starts to slide, just close the springform pan back up and let it sit for another 5 or 10 minutes.  

    4. If you don't have a springform pan, you can use a foil pan or a round baking pan.  The only difference is that you won't be able to present the dish as a lasagna out of the pan.  It will taste exactly the same though.

    Ingredients for making Instant Pot Ravioli Lasagna:

    • 1.5 tablespoons minced garlic
    • 1.5 cup ricotta cheese
    • ¼ cup fresh basil
    • 1 egg
    • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 2 ½ cups pasta sauce - jarred or canned can be used
    • 16 oz package frozen ravioli- I used ½ a package of sausage and ½ a package of ground beef but you can use whatever type of ravioli that you would like.

    Directions to make Instant Pot Ravioli Lasagna:

    Preparing Lasagna Ravioli

    1. Lightly grease 7-inch springform pan with non-stick cooking spray.
    2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, minced garlic, fresh basil, and Parmesan cheese together.

    Assembling Lasagna Ravioli

    1. Pour ½ cup of pasta sauce into 7-inch springform pan.
    2. Add one layer of ravioli to pan.
    3. Add a layer of ricotta mixture.  Use ½ of the ricotta mixture for this layer.  It's ok if it does not spread out perfectly.  It will melt down while cooking to create a more even layer in the Ravioli Lasagna.
    4. Add in a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.  Use ½ cup of mozzarella.
    5. Pour in 1 cup of pasta sauce.
    6. Add one layer of ravioli to pan.
    7. Add a layer of ricotta mixture.  Use the other ½ of the ricotta mixture for this layer.  It's ok if it does not spread out perfectly.  It will melt down while cooking to create a more even layer in the Ravioli Lasagna.
    8. Add in a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.  Use ½ cup of mozzarella.
    9. Pour in 1 cup of pasta sauce.
    10. Add one layer of ravioli to pan.
    11. Add in a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.  Use 1 cup of mozzarella.
    12. Fully wrap springform pan in foil.  Be sure to wrap the bottom too.  
    13. Place foil-wrapped springform pan into silicon or foil sling.  

    Pressure cooking Ravioli Lasagna

    1. Pour 1 cup of water into Instant Pot.
    2. Lower the sling with the Ravioli Lasagna into Instant Pot.
    3. Close lid and make sure the valve is sealed.
    4. Turn on Instant Pot and pressure cook for 20 minutes.
    5. When timer beeps, quick-release pressure. Do so by moving the valve to the "vent" position.
    6. Carefully remove Ravioli Lasagna from Instant Pot.
    7. Remove foil from the springform pan. 
    8. Place the Ravioli Lasagna back into the sling.
    9. Lower the sling with the Ravioli Lasagna back into Instant Pot.
    10. Use the air fryer lid and broil on hi for about 5 minutes.  Check to see if the cheese has browned by lifting up the broiling lid every 2-3 minutes.  Once the cheese has browned to your liking, turn Instant Pot off and remove Ravioli Lasagna from the Instant Pot. (If you don't have the air fryer lid, you can accomplish the same result by placing the ravioli lasagna in your oven under the broil setting.)
    11. Allow Ravioli Lasagna to cool on the counter for about 10 minutes. You want to cool it just enough so that it keeps it's shape when the springform pan is removed.  If you try to open the springform pan and the ravioli lasagna does not stay together, close the pan back up and check back in 5 minutes.  If you prefer, you can serve the Ravioli Lasagna right out of the springform pan.
