I always keep canned peaches, pineapple, and mango stocked in my pantry because they make really good Ninja Creami bases without any prep work at all. There is no peeling, pitting, or waiting for anything to ripen, just fruit that is ready to blend the moment I want to make ice cream. These recipes are proof that canned fruit belongs in the freezer just as much as it belongs in the pantry.

Why Use Canned Fruit in the Ninja Creami?
One of the best things about using canned fruit in Ninja Creami recipes is that you don’t have to worry about whether the fruit is ripe or in season. You can keep a few cans in the pantry without worrying about them spoiling, and they’re ready whenever you want to make a Creami. Just open the can and use the fruit straight from the can to make your base. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
How I Turn Canned Fruit Into a Ninja Creami Base
- Use the fruit or the fruit with the juice or syrup straight from the can. Depending on the recipe, you might need to drain the fruit from the liquid or you might use the liquid too.
- Blend the fruit with the other ingredients. To ensure the fruit flavor gets mixed thorughout the ice cream, blend it with the other ingredients before freezing.
- Freeze the full container for 24 hours. The base needs to be frozen completely solid before the Ninja Creami can turn it into a smooth, creamy ice cream or sorbet.
- Process, then add mix-ins. If you add things like cookies, chips, candy, or coconut before freezing, they will get pulverized and mixed into the base recipe completely. For added texture and pops of flavor, add them in after processing and on the mix-ins cycle.
Mix-In Ideas for Canned Fruit Ninja Creami Recipes
- Toasted coconut flakes for a pina colada feel with the pineapple recipes.
- Crushed graham crackers for something closer to a cobbler texture with the peach recipes.
- White chocolate chips for extra sweetness against a tart mango or pineapple base.
- Chopped macadamia nuts for crunch alongside any of the tropical flavors in this list.
Pineapple shows up in a few different ways across these recipes, from the tropical Ninja Creami Dole Whip and Pineapple Sorbet to the coconut flavored Pina Colada Lite Ice Cream.
Peach turns up just as often, whether it is a lighter frozen yogurt or the more indulgent Peach Cobbler Cottage Cheese Protein Ice Cream, and the Mango Sorbet rounds things out with something bright and simple.
Top Tips
- Choose fruit packed in juice or syrup based on the recipe you're making. Fruit packed in syrup will add more sweetness, while fruit packed in juice lets the flavor of the fruit stand out more.
- Don't automatically drain the fruit. The liquid in the can can be part of the Ninja Creami base, especially for sorbets and other fruit-forward recipes. Follow the individual recipe to see whether the fruit should be drained or the liquid should be included.
- Check the ingredients on the can. Canned fruit can be packed in water, fruit juice, light syrup, or heavy syrup, and switching between them can change the sweetness and consistency of the finished Creami.
- Keep the Ninja Creami MAX FILL line in mind. Some cans contain more fruit and liquid than will fit in a pint, so measure what you need instead of assuming the entire can should go into the container.
- Try different canned fruits throughout the year. Peaches, pineapple, mango, pears, mandarin oranges, and other canned fruits make it easy to experiment with flavors even when the fresh version isn't in season.
