If you love apple desserts, there is a lot more you can make in the Ninja Creami than basic apple ice cream. I have an apple cobbler ice cream with plenty of texture, a lighter caramel apple sorbet, and two protein ice creams that taste completely different from each other.

Why applesauce works in Ninja Creami recipes
Applesauce is one of the easiest ways to add real apple flavor to a Ninja Creami base without having to cook or blend fresh apples first. It also adds moisture and helps make the finished pint smoother. Store-bought and homemade applesauce both work, but taste the base before freezing because the sweetness can change depending on the applesauce you use.
Canned filling or fresh apples?
Canned apple pie filling is the easiest choice when you want that cooked apple dessert flavor because the apples are already cooked and seasoned. If you would rather use fresh apples in the base, cook them first so they soften and the mixture has time to thicken. Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith all work, so choose based on how sweet or tart you want the finished pint to be.
How to add fresh apple mix-ins
Fresh apple pieces should be chopped by hand and added after the base has already been processed. A blender breaks them down way too much, instead of leaving little pieces throughout the ice cream. Cut the apple into small pieces, add it to a well in the center of the pint, and use the Mix-In cycle.
Apple Cobbler Ice Cream is the one I would pick when I want something close to a fall dessert. It has a creamy vanilla base, sweet apple filling, crunchy granola, and caramel, so it tastes a lot more like cobbler with ice cream than plain apple ice cream.
Caramel Apple Sorbet is completely different because it is lighter and smoother. It still has that familiar caramel apple flavor, but it is a better choice when you want something refreshing instead of rich.
The protein ice creams go in two different directions too. Cinnamon Green Apple is tart with a little spice from the cinnamon, while Taffy Apple is sweeter and gets little bursts of fresh apple and salty crunch in every bite.
Top Tips
- Use applesauce for an easy apple base. It adds real apple flavor without having to peel, cook, and blend fresh apples first.
- Taste the base before freezing. Applesauce and apples vary in sweetness, and flavors become less noticeable once they are frozen. Adjust the sweetness before the pint goes into the freezer.
- Cook fresh apples before blending them into a base. This helps ensure that the apple flavor gets evenly distributed throughout the ice cream.
- Choose the apple based on the flavor you want. Granny Smith and other green apples are tart, while Honeycrisp and Golden Delicious give you a sweeter apple flavor.
- Chop fresh apple mix-ins by hand. Small hand-cut pieces stay intact during the Mix-In cycle, while a blender will turn the apple into a chunky apple juice mixture.
Ninja Creami Apple Cobbler Ice Cream
This is the one to make when you want apple cobbler but would rather have ice cream. You still get the apple pieces, caramel flavor, and a little crunch from the cobbler topping.

Ninja Creami Caramel Apple Sorbet-Low Calorie
Caramel apple flavor works surprisingly well as a sorbet. This version is sweet, a little tart, and much lighter than a regular ice cream.

Ninja Creami Cinnamon Green Apple Protein Ice Cream
The tart green apple flavor keeps this protein ice cream from tasting overly sweet. Cinnamon softens some of that tartness and makes it taste more like an apple dessert.

Ninja Creami Taffy Apple Protein Ice Cream
This protein ice cream tastes like the taffy apples you get at a fair. The apple pieces and peanuts add plenty of texture to the finished pint.
