Pears are one of those fruits that don’t get nearly enough attention, but this Ninja Creami low calorie pear cherry sorbet is going to change that. It’s smooth, has a delicate pear flavor with a pop of fresh cherry, and it’s made with just 3 simple ingredients.

This recipe comes in at 197 calories, 1 gram of protein, 34 grams of sugar, 0 grams of fat, 78 carbs, and 34 net carbs (total carbs minus allulose carbs) for the ENTIRE pint.

Ummmm…who knew pear sorbet could be so good??? And the best part is that it uses canned pears so it’s super easy to make! No peeling, no chopping, no waiting for pears to ripen on the counter. Just drain, blend, freeze, and process. So easy and so good.

Pear is such an underrated flavor for ice cream and sorbet. You NEVER see it at ice cream shops or in the freezer aisle at the grocery store. But it’s SO good and it deserves way more love than it gets. If you’ve never had pear sorbet before, this is a fun one to add to your Ninja Creami rotation.

Canned pears are already pretty sweet, but pear flavor can still be a little mild on its own. That’s where the allulose comes in. A little bit of sweetener bumps up the sweetness and helps bring out the pear flavor.

The cherries are what make this sorbet extra special. They add a nice pop of flavor to the pear base and turn what could be a plain pear sorbet into something more interesting. The pear and cherry combo is really good together, the sweet pear pairs so well with the tart cherry.

This sorbet is one of those desserts that works for so many different occasions. It’s light enough to have after a big dinner, fresh enough for a hot summer day, and different enough to serve at a dinner party without anyone getting bored of the same old chocolate or vanilla. It’s simple, but it doesn’t taste basic at all.

Tips for making Ninja Creami Low Calorie Pear Cherry Sorbet

Do canned pears provide much flavor to the sorbet?

Surprisingly, YES! Canned pears don’t have a whole lot of flavor but when you turn them into sorbet, something magical happens! The pear flavor comes to life and adds so much to this sorbet.

Can the cherries be added to the base recipe instead of as mix-ins?

I kept the cherries as mix-ins only because the pear sorbet on its own tastes so great! Adding the cherries as mix-ins provides a separation between the pear and cherry flavors. If you add the cherries to the base recipe, you won’t be able to taste the pears as much.

Can frozen cherries be used instead of fresh?

Sure, you can use frozen cherries instead of fresh ones. Be sure to thaw the cherries before adding them as mix-ins. I do not recommend using jarred, maraschino cherries or canned tart cherries as the flavor will be completely different.

What kind of canned pears should be used?

Any brand of canned pears will work, but I recommend using canned pears in 100% juice instead of heavy syrup. The heavy syrup will add a lot of extra sugar and calories, and the pear flavor comes through great without it.

Why does my sorbet look dry or crumbly after processing?

This is really common with Ninja Creami sorbets! If it looks dry, just re-spin without adding any liquid. The natural juice from the pears should be enough to bring it together after a re-spin or two.

Ingredient tips and substitutions

The full ingredient list is at the bottom of this post in the recipe card.

Fresh cherries with pear halves in syrup and a bowl of sugar on a white marble surface.
  • Canned Pears in 100% Juice: Use canned pears packed in 100% juice, not heavy syrup, to keep the sugar and calories down (the pear juice from the can gets used in the recipe too, so don’t drain it).
  • Allulose Granular Sugar Substitute: You can use your favorite granulated sweetener that is a 1:1 ratio with sugar, like monk fruit sweetener or real sugar.
  • Fresh Cherries: Fresh cherries give you the best flavor and texture as a mix-in, and thawed frozen cherries work too (do NOT use jarred maraschino cherries or canned tart cherries since the flavor will be completely different).

Directions for Making the Ice Cream Mixture

Canned pears, allulose, blend, and frozen pear juice in bowls and blender.
  1. Pour the canned pears (with the juice) and allulose into a small blender and blend until fully combined. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami container.
  2. Freeze on a level surface for 24 hours. Your freezer should be between 9 and -7 degrees Fahrenheit.

Directions for Processing the Ice Cream Mixture

Making cherry sorbet with fresh pitted cherries and creamy mixture.
  1. After 24 hours, remove the Ninja Creami container from the freezer. If there is a large bump in the sorbet, melt or scrape the large bump so that the top is level.
  2. Place the Ninja Creami container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami and then process on “SORBET.”
  3. If the sorbet is dry or crumbly looking (like sand), respin. You should not need to add any additional liquid during the respin. You may have to repeat this process a couple of times.
  4. Dig a well down the center of the sorbet, pour in the chopped cherries, and process on “MIX-INS.”

Recipes that use allulose:

Allulose is a low calorie sweetener that your body doesn't fully digest, so it provides only 0.4 calories per gram instead of 4. That's why the calorie total doesn't match what you'd expect from the carb count. Calories from allulose are calculated based on metabolized carbohydrates. Allulose contributes fewer calories than standard carbohydrates.
