Do you love apple cobbler? If so, do you put ice cream on top? This recipe for Ninja Creami apple cobbler homemade ice cream combines the flavors of a delicious, homemade apple cobbler with the sweet flavors of vanilla ice cream and you don’t even have to turn the oven on to bake the apple apple cobbler! And… there are no dirty baking dish either!. It’s the perfect combination of sweet vanilla mixed with apple filling and crunchy bits of granola all topped with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Apple cobbler ice cream made in the Ninja Creami ice cream maker takes all of the flavors of your favorite apple cobbler recipes and combines them with smooth and creamy vanilla ice cream to make a delicious frozen treat. I used canned apple pie filling for this recipe to make it super quick and easy to make. The canned apple pie filling already has all of the flavors pulled together for you. It couldn’t be any easier!

Depending on what supermarket you go to, you can find the canned apple pie filling in the baking aisle. There are several different variations. They even sell low-sugar or no-sugar-added canned apple pie filling in some stores. While you are at the store, be sure to check out the other flavors of canned pie filling. There’s usually cherry, blueberry, peach, lemon, and sometimes raspberry pie filling for sale. Do you know what that means?? You could VERY easily modify this recipe to make all sorts of Ninja Creami cobbler flavors! Peach cobbler ice cream would be so good!!!

I absolutely love honey bunches of oats cereal but if I had it my way, I’d just eat the bunches. Several years ago I noticed that they actually sell JUST THE BUNCHES!!! Yes, this is a thing! Whenever I need to use granola for something, my go-to is always the JUST THE BUNCHES from honey bunches of oats. They have amazing texture and great flavor too! They are a little sweet but not too sweet. Obviously, when I came up with this recipe I immediately thought of using this granola. Feel free to use your favorite granola, but I highly recommend the honey bunches of oats version.

Tips for making Ninja Creami Apple Cobbler Ice Cream
It only takes about 5 minutes to prepare the base for a Ninja Creami ice cream. But, since the Ninja Creami is not a traditional ice cream maker with a frozen bowl or a chilling mechanism, the ice cream base needs to be frozen before it is processed. It is recommended to freeze the base mixture for a full 24 hours before processing to ensure that the mixture is frozen solid throughout. Many have frozen for a shorter period of time and have been successful. Freezing time can also vary based on the ingredients used and the temperature of the freezer. When in doubt, freeze for 24 hours and then process.
Cream cheese acts as a thickener/stabilizer in Ninja Creami recipes. If you prefer not to use cream cheese for this recipe, you can use ยผ teaspoon of guar gum instead. There are several other stabilizers to choose from. See the full list here: https://thetastytravelers.com/ninja-creami-faqs/#stabilizers
There is no actual apple cobbler in this recipe. Instead, I have used canned apple pie filling, granola, and caramel sauce to create the flavors of apple cobbler.
You do not need to cook the apples since we are using canned apple pie filling for this recipe. If you prefer to use fresh apples, you can cook them with some butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and a little bit of nutmeg. Just slice and peel your favorite apples (Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, or Granny Smith apples work well) and cook them for a few minutes over medium heat. You may want to add a little bit of cornstarch to thicken the mixture up.
Turning a traditional cobbler into ice cream can be a little tricky because most crust is made of dough which would get soggy when added to ice cream. Instead, I used a granola topping to provide some of the same flavors and textures that you might get from a cobbler without the risk of it getting soggy. This recipe could pass as apple pie ice cream, apple cobbler ice cream, apple crumble ice cream, or apple crisp ice cream.

Ingredient substitutions for making Ninja Creami Apple Cobbler Ice Cream
The full ingredient list is found at the bottom of the post in the recipe card.
Cream Cheese- You will need a stabilizer for this recipe. You can use regular or low-fat cream cheese. If you prefer not to use cream cheese, you can use ยผ teaspoon of guar gum instead. I also have put together a list of several other cream cheese substitutes that you can choose from here.
Vanilla Bean Paste- I almost always use vanilla bean paste because I think it provides a richer vanilla flavor and does not have a strong alcohol taste or smell. If you prefer, you can use vanilla extract.
Half and Half- Half and half can be substituted with a mixture of ยผ heavy cream and ยพ whole milk. This is not an exact substitution but it’s close enough for this recipe.
Milk- I prefer to use whole milk but you can use your favorite dairy or non-dairy milk like oat milk or almond milk.
Apple Pie Filling- Canned apple pie filling is used. You can use regular or no-sugar added or you can even make your own.
Granola Topping- Use your favorite granola. Honey Bunches of Oats granola was used in the recipe. Try to use a chunky granola instead of a finer granola.
Caramel Sauce- Ice cream topping caramel sauce was used, not coffee flavoring syrup. The coffee flavoring syrup is not as thick and will make the ice cream texture more like a soft serve.
Directions for making Ninja Creami Apple Cobbler Ice Cream:
Make the Ice Cream Mixture
- Pour the softened cream cheese, vanilla bean paste, half and half, milk, and apple pie filling into a small blender and blend until all of the ingredients have combined together. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami container. Be sure not to fill above the max fill line.
- Freeze on a level surface for 24 hours. Your freezer should be between 9 and -7 degrees Fahrenheit. To avoid getting a bump on the top of the frozen mixture, freeze with the lid off of the container.

Process the Ice Cream
- After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer. Remove the lid.
- Place the Ninja Creami pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl if your model has one, and then process on “ICE CREAM.”
- If the ice cream is dry or crumbly looking, pour in a tablespoon or two of milk and then re-spin by pushing the button for the re-spin cycle. You may have to repeat this process a couple of times.
- Dig a well down the center of the ice cream and pour in the granola and caramel sauce. Process on mix-ins.
- Remove the pint from the machine and enjoy!

How do you use frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami?
The manual that comes with the Ninja Creami says that you cannot use frozen fruit in the machine. This can be confusing because, technically, you can use frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami. However, you have to follow a few rules when doing so. I’ve seen a lot of people on social media tossing frozen fruit chunks straight into the Ninja Creami and spinning it like it’s a blender. But the Creami isn’t a blender, and it’s not meant to be used like one. Even though some people have gotten lucky doing it that way, it can actually damage the […]

This recipe sounds delicious!! I would probably use your vanilla Creami recipe that uses pudding (I detest the cream cheese recipes), and since this recipe only calls for part of a can of apple pie filling, I would save the rest in an air-tight container in the refrigerator, and pour some over the icecream!
