Check out my recipe for making Ninja Foodi Black Eyed Peas using the pressure cook function!

Every year my mom makes a ham for Christmas dinner.  I do love ham for Christmas, but.... my favorite part isn't eating the ham (don't tell my mom!).  My favorite part is using the leftover ham to make black eyed peas.  My mom makes them EVERY single year and I absolutely love them!  I ask her to make an extra batch just for me.

This recipe was made using the Ninja® Foodi™ 8-qt. 9-in-1 Deluxe XL Pressure Cooker & Air Fryer but can also be made using the Ninja® Foodi® 14-in-1 8-qt. XL Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid™

This year I made the Christmas ham and thought...oh no!  We aren't going to have black eyed peas!  🙁 Problem solved.  I asked my mom for her recipe and decided to make it the quick and easy version by putting it in the pressure cooker!

The good news is the black eyed peas with ham turned out AMAZING!  They were so flavorful and tender.  The bad news is that I think I will now have the responsibility of making them every year!

Tips for making Ninja Foodi Black Eyed Peas with Ham:

1.If you would like to have a thicker mixture, use 4 cups of chicken broth.  For more of a soup texture, use 6-7 cups of chicken broth.  I personally think that 5 cups of broth is just the right amount. Adjust based on your liking!  🙂

2.Ham and Tony Chachere's are both rather salty.  If you like a little extra spice without the extra salt, try using Tony Chachere's no salt version and adding as much salt as you would like.

3.If you don't have any broth on hand, you can use water.  The black eyed peas will cook the same, but they will not be quite as flavorful.

4.If you are using a holiday ham, you can put the bone in with the black eyed peas as well.  This addition will add even more flavor.

How to make Ninja Foodi Black Eyed Peas with Ham:

1.Pour all ingredients into Ninja Foodi and stir.

2.Close pressure cooking lid and move valve to "seal" position.

3.Pressure cook on high for 30 minutes.

4.When timer beeps, naturally release pressure for 10 minutes.  Do so by doing nothing!  🙂 . Just leave your pot on and allow timer to count up to 10 minutes.

5.Once the Ninja Foodi has naturally released for 10 minutes, move valve to "venting" position and quick release remaining pressure.

6.Open Ninja Foodi lid and stir.  The black eyed peas and ham will continue to thicken as it cools as some of the liquid continues to evaporate.

    7.It's time to eat!  Enjoy!
