These EASY Ninja Creami Sorbet Recipes are all created for and tested in the Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker and have detailed instructions on how to make sorbet. Using just a couple simple ingredients, you can make your own sorbet at home, in just about any flavor that you would like!
If you are looking for a refreshing frozen treat to make in your Ninja Creami machine, I’ve got you covered. It’s really easy to make homemade sorbet using your favorite fruits like fresh strawberries, peaches, mangoes, and pineapples.
The Ninja Creami makes it possible to create sorbet using simple ingredients like canned fruit, fruit juices, and canned pie filling. The flavor options are endless!

What is sorbet?
Since there usually is no dairy added to sorbet, the texture is a bit icier than sherbet or ice cream. Although sometimes a small amount of dairy is added to help create a creamier texture or to act as a stabilizer. The hero in sorbet is the fruit. A good sorbet should taste like fruit and not be overly sweet.
How to use the Ninja Creami to make sorbet
- Start off by preparing your base recipe and pouring it into a Ninja Creami pint container. Be sure not to fill past the max fill line. If I’m making a base recipe that has several ingredients, I like to blend all ingredients together before pouring them into the Ninja Creami containers. The base recipe for sorbet will be mostly fruit but may also have some liquid, stabilizer, or additional sweetener.
- Make sure the top of the mixture is level and then freeze on a level surface for 24 hours. The freezer temperature should be between -7 and 9 degrees Fahrenheit. Based on the temperature of your freezer and the ingredients used, you may be able to freeze for a shorter period of time. Some like to freeze the container without the lid to help reduce the likelihood that a frozen bump will form on the top of the frozen treat.
- Remove from the freezer and place into the Ninja Creami ice cream machine. Select sorbet cycle. All Ninja Creami models have the sorbet button on them (at the time that this post was published).
- Once the process has finished, remove the container from the machine. If the sorbet is dry and crumbly (like sand), pour 1-2 tablespoons of liquid into the sorbet and then process on the re-spin cycle. You might need to complete this process more than once. You can use fruit juice, milk or cream, or even water as the additional liquid that might be needed for the respin. ***If you are going to be adding mix-ins, it’s not recommended to re-spin multiple times or add much liquid before the mix-ins process as the mix-ins process will continue to spin the sorbet and it might become too soft.
- If you would like to add mix-ins to your Ninja Creami sorbet, dig a hole down the center of the sorbet, if there is not already one there, and pour in your favorite mix-ins. Put the sorbet back into the machine and process on mix-ins.

mix-in ideas for making sorbet
Fruit– You can add additional fruit like strawberries, peaches, blueberries, or apples during the mix-ins process. Be sure to cut the fruit into small pieces. I prefer to use fresh fruit as a mix-in, but you can use small pieces of frozen fruit or freeze dried fruit as a mix-in.
Your favorite granola– Using granola is a great way to add texture to sorbet.
Cookies– Adding small pieces of cookies to a sorbet can add texture and additional flavor to any sorbet. Adding golden Oreos to a strawberry sorbet would be a great combination!
The flavor combinations are endless when you start adding mix-ins to sorbet.
Ninja Creami Sorbet Recipes
One of the most popular recipes is Ninja Creami Dole Whip and you can order Dole whip mix on Amazon. Or, you can make this recipe: Ninja Creami pineapple sorbet. It's very similar with just one ingredient; canned pineapple! Not only is it super easy to make, but it’s also less expensive and lower in added sugar than the Dole Whip mix.

How to use frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami
If you want to make sorbet using frozen fruit you can. There are few guidelines to follow when using frozen fruit.
- You cannot freeze only frozen fruit unless you blend it first. If you try to freeze frozen fruit in the container without blending it, there will be gaps between the pieces of fruit and that will be hard for the machine to process. Instead, blend the frozen fruit and pour it into the container and freeze or pour liquid into the container to fill the gaps between the chunks of frozen fruit.
- You should not take fruit out of the freezer, add it to the container and then process it in the Ninja Creami right away. The frozen fruit should be frozen in the container (either blended first or with liquid added to fill the gaps) so that it takes the shape of the container.
- Frozen fruit can be thawed and added to any Ninja Creami recipe.

Sorbet made from fresh or Frozen fruit
If you are using only fruit (no liquid): If the fruit is frozen, and in large chunks, you might need to thaw or microwave it until it is soft enough to blend into a cohesive mixture.
- Pour the fruit into a blender, blend for a few seconds to break the fruit up.
- Taste the mixture. If it is not sweet enough, add sweetener until it reaches your desired level of sweetness.
- Pour the fruit mixture into the Ninja Creami container, freeze for 24 hours.
- Process on sorbet.
Sorbet made from Canned Fruit
When using canned fruit, you can choose between heavy syrup, light syrup, or fruit juice. You can use the juice or drain it. Fruit juice will provide a less sweet sorbet while heavy syrup will create the sweetest sorbet. Taste the mixture before freezing. If it’s not sweet enough, add additional sweetener and then freeze.
If you are draining the liquid from the canned fruit:
- Pour the fruit into a blender, blend for a few seconds to break the fruit up.
- Taste the mixture. If it is not sweet enough, add sweetener until it reaches your desired level of sweetness.
- Pour the fruit mixture into the Ninja Creami container, freeze for 24 hours.
- Process on sorbet.
If you are using canned fruit with the syrup or juice in the can:
- Pour the canned fruit and liquid into the Ninja Creami container, freeze for 24 hours.
- Process on sorbet.
Sorbet made from Canned Pie Filling
Canned pie filling is a simple way to make a very flavorful sorbet in the Ninja Creami! There are so many great flavor options available and it’s really easy to turn it into sorbet! Canned pie fillings create a wonderful, thick, and creamy texture all with just one ingredient.
However, they can be VERY sweet. Sugar-free options are available but the end result is still VERY sweet. Due to the sweetness, I would recommend adding a bit of liquid to tone down the sweetness. The amount of juice added is a matter of preference. Some like the sweetness of the canned pie filling all on it’s own. While others find it overly sweet. Adjust the pie filling to juice ratio based on your preference.
If you are using canned pie filling:
- Pour the canned pie filling into a blender along with fruit juice. I would recommend a 50/50 ratio of pie filling to fruit juice. Try to get a fruit juice that compliments the pie flavor that you are using.
- Blend until the pie filling has mixed well with the fruit juice.
- Pour the fruit mixture into the Ninja Creami container, freeze for 24 hours.
- Process on sorbet.
Look in the baking aisle of your grocery store for canned pie fillings. There are a bunch of flavors available. You can even find sugar-free options too! Here’s a list of some of the flavors that are available.
- Berry Medley Pie
- Apple Pie
- Strawberry Pie
- Peach Pie
- Lemon Creme Pie
- Rhubarb Pie
- Raspberry Pie
- Apricot Pie
- Cherry Pie
- Blueberry Pie
- Blackberry Pie
- Key Lime Pie
