Chocolate is one of my favorite flavors to work with in the Ninja Creami, since it holds up well no matter what direction you take it, whether that’s a rich protein base, a low-calorie sorbet, or something built around pudding instead of custard. It never gets old finding a new way to make it work

I always like turning a favorite candy bar into ice cream, and this list has a few of those. Almond Joy, Rocky Road, and York Peppermint Patty all borrow their flavor from something I already had a soft spot for, which makes them an easy sell even before you take the first bite.
The protein ones were important to get right without sacrificing flavor. Double Dark Chocolate Chip Protein Ice Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Protein Ice Cream, and Mocha Espresso Protein Ice Cream all keep a rich chocolate base while still packing in protein, and they process into that same smooth texture I always want from ice cream.
Top Tips
- Chop candy pieces before processing if they are big. Larger chunks of Oreo, waffle cone, or peppermint patty have a tendency of staying intact when you use the mix-ins process. So, chop them up a bit to make sure they get mixed throughout the ice cream.
- Freeze the container on a level surface. To prevent an uneven top, be sure that you put the container in the freezer on a level surface.
- Re-spin if it looks crumbly. A dry or sandy texture after the first spin usually means it needs to be re-spun, with or without a splash of liquid.
- Process straight out of the freezer. As long as you are using the proper ingredients and your freezer is the proper temperature, you should process straight out of the freezer as the machine is made to process frozen solid base recipes.
- Use unsweetened cocoa powder for consistency. It gives the most reliable chocolate flavor across recipes without adding extra sugar.
Ninja Creami Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream
