Why Is the Paddle Loose?

The Creamerizer paddle needs a small amount of play in it to work correctly. When the machine processes a frozen base, the paddle is driven down into the ice cream and needs to be able to move and flex slightly as it works through the frozen mixture. A paddle that was completely rigid and locked in place would actually be a problem, not a feature.

This is not a defect or a sign that anything is worn out. Every Ninja Creami paddle is like this right out of the box. It’s intentional. Ninja even addresses it in their own documentation because so many people notice it and worry about it.

How to Confirm the Paddle Is Installed Correctly

Even though the paddle wobbles, it still needs to be installed correctly before you process. Here’s how to check.

Press and hold the latch on the top of the processing lid, insert the paddle into the bottom of the lid, then release the latch. You should feel it click into place. The paddle will still have some wobble and movement even when correctly installed. That is normal. What you are confirming is that the latch has engaged and the paddle is secured in the lid.

When you install the container with your base mixture into the machine, all the indicator lights on your machine should illuminate. If the install light flashes or stays lit after you’ve installed everything, that’s the machine telling you something isn’t installed correctly or there’s a bigger issue with the machine. Double check the paddle and the container before running a program. A correctly installed paddle with normal wobble will not cause the install light to flash.
